First Volkswagen Franchise Nationally For Hendrick Automotive Group

Charlotte, N.C. (Feb. 25, 2014) - Hendrick Automotive Group has acquired Murrieta Volkswagen from owner Joe Herold and today re-opened the dealership under the name Volkswagen of Murrieta. Located at 41300 Date Street, it is the first Volkswagen franchise nationally for Hendrick Automotive Group.

The new Volkswagen of Murrieta is Hendrick Automotive Group's second dealership in Murrieta, Calif., and 10th in the state. Volkswagen is the 27th manufacturer nameplate offered by the Charlotte-based company, which now operates 87 dealerships across the United States.

John Ellyson, who joined Hendrick Automotive Group in 2005 and most recently was general sales manager at BMW of Murrieta, will serve as general manager of Volkswagen of Murrieta. Market area vice president Donna Gebers oversees all Hendrick Automotive Group dealership operations in Murrieta.

Volkswagen of Murrieta features 250 new and pre-owned cars on site plus access to the entire Hendrickcars.com inventory of more than 6,000 pre-owned vehicles. The 23,000-square-foot dealership sits on 3.5 acres, houses 27 service bays and offers customer amenities including courtesy vehicles, free Wi-Fi and shuttle service to area attractions. Plans to upgrade the facility are in the process of being developed.
